Free agent Jeremy Lin moved to swiftly deny reports that he was set to return to the Golden State Warriors, his first NBA team.
NBA reporter Shams Charania was the first to report that Lin, who played for the Warriors after going undrafted in the 2011 draft, was set to rejoin the team.
“Jeremy Lin is finalising a deal with the Golden State Warriors, pending letter of clearance from Chinese Basketball Association, sources tell,” Charania tweeted.
Several media outlets, including ESPN, reported that Lin was to sign with the Warriors’ G League team, the Santa Cruz Warriors.

However, Lin moved to refute the reports, which said that the contract was waiting on a release from the Chinese Basketball Association where he played last season with the Beijing Ducks.
“Whoa...Everybody chill...this isn’t what it looks like. No decisions have been made,” he wrote on Twitter.

Lin had said there was no news to share when he spoke to Chinese fans on Weibo earlier in the week.
The 32-year-old played 29 times for the Warriors in the 2010-11 season before going on to star at the New York Knicks during his breakout “Linsanity” period.
After winning the NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, Lin went unsigned as a free agent and moved to Beijing. After a season in the CBA he decided to take another shot at the NBA and had been training with Warriors players, as well as those from another former team, the Brooklyn Nets.

Last week he was in action with the G League Ignite team, the development league’s new team for hothousing future NBA talent.
The NBA season starts on December 23, with the G League schedule still under negotiation.
Lin had earlier admitted that a return to China is an option if he cannot secure an NBA return.
