The NBA’s Golden State Warriors have failed in their bid to sign Jeremy Lin to their G League team, according to reports, with the player’s immediate future remaining uncertain.

Several media outlets, including ESPN and the local Mercury News, reported that the Warriors were unable to file the paperwork by Saturday’s deadline, ending a dream return to the team he followed as a boy.

The Warriors were missing the official Letter of Clearance from global basketball governing body Fiba and Lin’s former Chinese Basketball Association team, the Beijing Ducks, despite Lin reportedly working with the front office.

Lin had been linked with a return to the team where his NBA journey began back in 2010, when the Warriors signed the undrafted Harvard graduate, since he announced his intention to return to the NBA this summer after a season in China.

The 32-year-old had signed for the Beijing Ducks after receiving no offers in NBA free agency following the 2018-19 season, in which he won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors.
