NBA veteran Jeremy Lin is front and centre of the league’s 10th anniversary of Lunar New Year commercials, which features a flashback to the “Linsanity” period of February, 2012.
The advert shows three fans making a 10-year pact to watch games every Lunar New Year, with Lin’s time at the New York Knicks providing the action.
They make sure they keep their vow to watch the games together. “Where else can countries separated by oceans share the same happiness?” it concludes.
The advert has been shown on Philippines television and Hong Kong NBA broadcaster Sports2World ahead of the Year of the Ox starting on February 12.


Lin will spend Lunar New Year at the G League bubble at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida.
The 32-year-old is about to start his NBA comeback with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League. Their first game is against the G League Ignite on February 10.
Nine years after ‘Linsanity’, Lin says G League ‘feels like rookie year’
China’s NBA broadcaster Tencent announced that it would show Lin’s G League games over the Lunar New Year holiday.
Lin, who spent last season with the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association, has long been the face of the NBA’s Lunar New Year celebrations and featured in several of the annual adverts.
In 2018, when he was out injured, Lin live-streamed a dumpling-making class on the NBA’s Weibo that made the front page of the China Daily.

NBA teams often mark the Lunar New Year holiday at their games, with many of them wearing special edition uniforms to welcome in the New Year.
