Next Yao Ming? Guo Haowen to swap Shanghai Sharks for NBA Draft

China’s Guo Haowen has declared for the upcoming NBA Draft, with the player thanking the Shanghai Sharks, his Chinese Basketball Association team.

“First of all, I would like to thank the Shanghai Sharks, fans and media friends for their support. I have been training in the US for quite some time and I would like to share with you my decision to enter this year’s NBA Draft and training competition as an early-entry candidate under the age of 22,” Guo wrote on his personal Weibo account from Los Angeles.

Tencent CBA reported that Guo has been in the US since early May ahead of the July 30 draft, while the 21-year-old said he was looking forward to the challenge after his time with the Sharks.

“I hope to use this opportunity to challenge myself in different competitions to further improve my skills, to become a better player, to achieve my life dream of winning glory for my country. I have strong confidence in this.”

 

Guo said he had been in contact with the Sharks as he made preparations for the NBA.
