China’s teenaged Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games diving gold medallist Quan Hongchan continued her run of good form by helping Guangdong province to the women’s team diving title at the China National Games in Xi’an.

Despite only officially starting on September 15 several events have already been competed.

The diving began on Monday with the women’s team event and all eyes were on the Guangdong squad led by the 14-year-old, who was the youngest member of China’s delegation and one of the breakout stars of the Games in Tokyo this summer.

Despite a low-scoring third of her five dives – which scored just 59 points – Quan did not disappoint on her National Games debut.

She posted a total score of 413.90 points to finish first in the 10-metre platform ahead of fellow Tokyo Olympic gold medallists Zhang Jiaqi and Chen Yuxi in second and third.

The Tokyo synchronised 10m platform champions Zhang of Beijing and Chen of Shanghai were joined in the pool by synchronised 3m springboard winner Wang Han (who won in Tokyo with Shi Tingmao) in competing for their provinces.
