China’s big Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics medal hope Eileen Gu has put her competitors on notice with a video of her training that she shared on social media.

In the video – which she captioned “lil worlds first today” – the 18-year-old lands a freeski double cork 1440 while training at the Stubai Glacier in Austria ahead of this year’s ski season.

As per her claim, it is believed that she is the first woman to land the trick, with a number of her fellow skiers congratulating the teenager on the feat.

Sarah Hoefflin, the freestyle ski slopestyle gold medallist at the last Winter Games in Pyeongchang in 2018, wrote “Yeewwww congrats”.

Anna Gasser, the Snowboard Big Air Olympic champion also commented on Gu’s post.

Gu has consistently made headlines since the summer of 2019 when she confirmed that she would compete for China rather than the US, where she was born to an American father and Chinese mother.
