Guanyu Zhou said the road to becoming China’s first Formula One driver was tough, but described joining Alfa Romeo for next season as “a dream come true”.

Zhou has been making waves in Formula Two and replaces Antonio Giovinazzi, taking a seat alongside Valtteri Bottas, who is moving from Mercedes to replace the retiring Kimi Raikkonen.

The 22-year-old said it was a privilege to start his F1 racing career with such “an iconic team”.
