A trio of China’s top Olympic swimmers will head to Abu Dhabi for the 15th Fina World Swimming Championships this month.

Olympic champions Zhang Yufei, Li Bingjie and Wang Shun will lead a 27-member Chinese swimming delegation into Fina, set for the Etihad Arena on Yas Island from 16-21 December.

At the Tokyo Olympics, “Butterfly Queen” Zhang won China’s first two swimming gold medals after setting an Olympic record in the 200m butterfly. She then went on to lead the 4x200m freestyle relay team to a shock world record performance.

Her winning relay team member Li Bingjie will also be on hand in Abu Dhabi for the six-day short course competition.

Men’s 200m individual medley Olympic champion Wang Shun will also be looking to defend his title for the third time in a row in the 25m worlds.
