The medal events came thick and fast on Thursday, and America's Chloe Kim took gold in the women's half-pipe, proving far too good for the rest of the field. China's Cai Xuetong finished just outside the medal spots. China's freestyle skiing mixed aerials team of Qi Guangpu, Xu Mengtao and Jia Zongyang later pushed the US all the way, claiming silver in the event's Olympic debut. But all eyes on Thursday were on the ice rink in the morning, and the battle for gold in the men's free skate. Nathan Chen shattered "Ice Prince" Yuzuru Hanyu's world record in the short programme, and took his crown in the free skate, winning a gold medal with an other-worldly performance. China's Jin Boyang finished ninth overall. Day 6 was then capped off by an 8-0 thrashing for China's men's ice hockey team, on its Olympics debut, at the hands of the mighty USA.
