Hong Kong rower Chiu Hin-chun’s emotions got the better of him after taking bronze in the men’s single sculls, as the city’s athletes started the second full day of Asia Games competition exactly as they finished the first, standing on the podium.
The city’s rowers led the way once again at Fuyang Water Sports Centre in Hangzhou, with Cheung Hoi-lam and Leung King-wan taking silver in the women’s pairs race.
Another medal is on the cards in the men’s rugby sevens after Hong Kong’s men stormed into the semi-finals. They are aiming to repeat their gold-medal finish in 2018.
Having given his congratulations to gold medal fencer Cheung Ka-long on Sunday, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu met members of the city’s equestrian team and some of Hong Kong’s horse racing experts ahead of Monday’s competition.

“Hong Kong horse racing experts and technicians have been actively participating and providing all-round support [for the Asian Games] since the preparatory stage,” Lee said in a social media post, adding he learned about their jobs and thanked them for their efforts and contributions.
