Chinese table tennis fans have clashed online after Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha lost in the finals of the mixed doubles at the WTT US Smash.

The pair, who were playing together for the first time since the WTT Finals in Hong Kong last December, were beaten 3-2 by South Koreans Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin.

And their respective fan bases were quick to point the finger at each other’s hero.

“He actually pretended to be a teammate and sabotaged the team, leaving the poor Sun Yingsha to fight in a 1 v 3 battle,” a fan of the women’s world No 1 said.

Neutrals, meanwhile, poked fun at the two sets of fans, or accused them of trolling social media users in a bid to drive clicks and earn money online.

“Ha ha, previously they joined hands to bully Fan Zhendong and his fans, and now they are attacking each other,” read one comment.
