If there is one thing that stands out for Hong Kong cricket captain Kary Chan from the recently concluded women’s FairBreak T20 tournament in Dubai, it’s the friendships she developed.

Chan was one of 12 Hong Kong cricketers selected for the event, where she competed for South Coast Sapphires in Dubai and was regarded as one of the most entertaining players of the tournament, proving dangerous in her bowling with her signature left-arm spin.

“Before the tour, I never thought I would become so close with my teammates,” she told the Post.

“All of them are really friendly and funny. We danced together, sang on the bus and talked about life, not only cricket. Even with the tour finished, we still keep in contact. They are not only my teammates, we have all become friends. It’s one of the best memories in my life.”

Co-sanctioned by the ICC and Cricket Hong Kong, the FairBreak Invitational featured players from 35 countries spread across six teams. Cricket officials and players hailed the event an overwhelming success and a second tournament has been announced for Hong Kong from March 11 to 26 next year.
