Game on: AFC Champions League match between Tianjin Quanjian and Kashima Antlers in Macau will go ahead as scheduled

Speculation was that the game would be postponed a day or re-arranged to be played in Tianjin but quarter-final second leg will kick-off as planned

The AFC Champions League game between Tianjin Quanjian and Kashima Antlers will go ahead as planned, the AFC has confirmed.

Director of communications Colin Gibson confirmed in an email that the match is on, the stadium is fit and both teams and the match officials are in Macau ahead of Tuesday night’s quarter-final second leg.

Speculation that the game would be rescheduled either to be played in Tianjin or put back to Wednesday night in Macau had grown after Typhoon Mangkhut had battered Hong Kong and Macau over the weekend.

That has been nixed after the confirmation from the AFC.

The Chinese Super League side are looking to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit to reach the semi-finals in their debut continental campaign.
