Messi’s miserable night gets worse after team bus leaves without him
- The Barcelona captain makes his own special arrangements to head back to the airport
- The 31-year-old Argentine great was directly involved in all eight Barca shots on goal but couldn’t score
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, the Argentine’s ego was further bruised when the team bus left without him after his team was knocked out of the Champions League.
Stunned by Liverpool in the second leg, semi-final encounter, the Argentina was left cursing after the team bus headed back to the airport when they couldn’t wait for him any longer.
According to Spanish TV channel, El Chiringuito, Messi was required to take a drug test after the thrilling encounter which saw Barcelona hold a three-goal advantage going into the second leg only to lose 4-0 for a 4-3 aggregate defeat against a mighty Reds comeback.
Messi had a night he would rather forget at Anfield and must have felt more aggrieved after the rest of the squad and coaching staff headed to the airport without their captain as they travelled back to Spain.
Special arrangements had to be made for the 31-year-old Argentine great to rejoin his Barca teammates at the airport but the experience must have left a sour taste in his mouth to further compound his misery.
