Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe accomplished one of football’s more unusual sights on Wednesday night.
At the final whistle of their 5-0 Chinese FA Cup defeat by Guangzhou Evergrande, the capital side had three goalkeepers on the pitch.
Two of the keepers were playing outfield.
Chen Li, wearing No 1 on the back of his outfield shirt, entered the fray on 83 minutes after coming on for the injured Zhang Yufeng.

This must be a new world record-Renhe just fielded its 3rd(!!) goalkeeper, the second one to play as a striker(!) in the 5th round of the Chinese FA Cup.
Mou Pengfei is the only goal keeper that protects its own goal,where Liu Peng and Li Chen are playing as strikers.

The goalkeeper joined his fellow custodian Peng Liu on the field, as Peng had replaced injured midfielder Sun Weizhe after just 43 minutes with the score at 1-0.
Mou Pengfei started the game in goal and stayed there throughout, getting a yellow card to add to the five goals he conceded.

Beijing’s bizarre night came about because they had named only three players on the bench and two were goalkeepers.
Evergrande used two goalkeepers in the match but opted for the more traditional method of directly replacing one with the other at half-time.
Five goalkeepers in a single game – and four on the pitch at the same time for the closing stages – is unusual but we have seen more goalkeepers playing outfield in the CSL this season as clubs look to outwit under-23 rules.




Beijing Renhe, who are in the relegation zone in the league, were accused online of giving up on the FA Cup by naming a largely under-23 squad and three substitutes.
Evergrande also named an all-Chinese side for the game but cruised to victory.
Goals from Zhang Linpeng, Yang Liyu and a Wei Shihao hat-trick saw Fabio Cannavaro’s side through to the next round of the cup.

The quarter-finals beckon for Evergrande, where they join holders Beijing Guoan, CSL champions Shanghai SIPG and Shandong Luneng.
Naturalised player John Jou Saeter scored for Beijing Guoan in their 3-1 win over Changchun Yatai.
