Manchester United’s China club crest mistake at Beijing experience centre greeted with ridicule

  • Fans joke that ship facing wrong way represents the club in recent years, while others hope it means Alexis Sanchez is leaving for China
  • Error has already been corrected according to reports in Chinese media, with official experience centres set to follow next year

Another day and another opportunity for the rest of the football world to laugh at the expense of Manchester United.

This time it is because of an embarrassing incident at the club’s newly launched preview of their upcoming experience centres, which opened its doors to the public in downtown Beijing on June 8.

The venue is to give people a taste of the three fan experience centres that are set to open in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenyang next year.

The club crest was reproduced on the front of the building on the city’s Dashilan shopping street with one glaring error: the ship above the Red Devil was facing the wrong way.

The two normally face in opposite directions, with the devil looking to the right and the ship heading towards the left. Instead, both face to the right.
