The Fifa Women’s World Cup has ended with the US beating the Netherlands 2-0 to win a record fourth world title.

Before they could pick up their trophy in Lyon the fans in the Olympic Stadium called on Fifa boss Gianni Infantino to pay women on an equal footing with the men.

“Equal pay,” they shouted in unison as the Swiss entered the field of play to oversee the handing out of the individual awards.

Megan Rapinoe was named player of the match and then handed the golden ball as the player of the tournament.

Rapinoe described the feeling of winning back to back titles. “It’s unbelievable.”

“We have all of our friends and family here. It’s surreal. It’s ridiculous”
