Tottenham’s Dele Alli charged by FA over coronavirus video

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been charged by the English Football Association over a video where he mocked an Asian man over the coronavirus.

The England international has been charged with misconduct relating to an aggravated breach of rule E3, which relates to bringing the game into disrepute.

In a statement, the FA said, "It is alleged that his post breaches FA Rule E3(1) as it was insulting and/or improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.

"It is further alleged that the post constitutes an aggravated breach, which is defined in FA Rule E3(2), as it included a reference, whether express or implied, to race and/or colour and/or ethnic origin and/or nationality."

The 23-year-old posted a video on his Snapchat account from an airport lounge ahead of a trip to Dubai during the English Premier League winter break.
