Several proposals for the 2020 season to begin have been submitted and rejected by the General Administration for Sport and Centre for Disease Control.
Now the Chinese Football Association has submitted its plan to Shanghai-based infectious disease expert Zhang Wenhong, the professor who has become a celebrity during the coronavirus pandemic. Sina Sports reported that the proposal has been well-received.
This is believed to be the last throw of the dice for the CSL season after the Asian Football Confederation confirmed the new dates for Fifa World Cup qualifying.
China now has four games to play as they attempt to qualify for Qatar 2022, two decades after their sole appearance at a Fifa World Cup in Japan and South Korea. The games are set for October 8 and 13 then November 12 and 17.
