Last season’s Chinese Super League golden boot winner Eran Zahavi scored his 100th goal for Guangzhou R&F on Wednesday night to give the struggling side their first point of the season.

The Israeli striker stretched to poke home at the back post of Henan Jianye goalkeeper Wu Yan on 59 minutes from a knock-down after a free-kick. This equalised Feng Boxuan’s 10th-minute volleyed opener.

“It's a great honour for me to achieve this. I want to thank all the people who helped me in the process,” Zahavi said after the game.

“The most important thing for us is to move forward, and try to take the first win and more points.”

Last year Zahavi set a new CSL record with 29 goals, surpassing Guangzhou Evergrande’s Elkeson previous high of 28 in a season set in 2014.

There was drama in Wednesday’s other group A meeting in Dalian where Shanghai Shenhua and Shandong Luneng met.

Shenhua’s South Korean striker Kim Shin-wook bagged a stoppage time winner to give last year’s Chinese FA Cup winners their second victory of the season.

Kim slotted home from the edge of the box from a Cao Yunding pass, giving Shandong keeper Hao Rongze no chance and the Shanghai side all three points.

The goal was against the run of play with Luneng having fashioned the stronger openings.

Former Italy striker Graziano Pelle had a fine chance snuffed out while his teammate Brazilian defender Moises struck the woodwork with a long range free-kick before Kim struck. Shandong have not scored since Marouane Fellaini’s opening day hat-trick.

The third round of 2020 season matches continues with group B in Suzhou on Thursday.
