Shandong Luneng put five goals past a hapless Guangzhou R&F in Dalian on Tuesday night to move level with champions Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League group A standings.

Jin Jingdao got Shandong off the mark, before Graziano Pelle notched a brace, with Duan Liyu joining in on the act in the 42nd minute to make it 4-0 at half-time.

Guo Tianyu added one more for Li Xiaopeng’s side just before the hour, before a late consolation from Dia Saba for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

Hong Kong coach Mixu Paatelainen, who said he was watching the CSL’s Hongkongers Tan Chun-lok and Dai Wai-tsun, will have been disappointed.

Tan, who has played in five of R&F’s seven games this season, was not in the squad.

Coach Li was not getting carried away. “We were lucky to seize the chances in first half, but we should have played smarter in the second half in order to save more energy,” he said after the game.
