Shanghai SIPG’s eight-game unbeaten run in the Chinese Super League came to an end at the hands of Hebei China Fortune in Suzhou on Saturday.
The game ended 2-0 with the opener coming in first half stoppage time.
Paulo Henrique volleyed the ball against the woodwork but Wang Qiuming slid home.
The 2018 champions tried to force an equaliser but the only other goal was to put the match beyond reach.


Marcos scored Hebei’s second in the 96th minute, tapping in from a Samir Memisevic through pass.
SIPG may have suffered from star player Oscar being taken off at the interval.


“Oscar had a little leg discomfort during halftime break and the coaching group made some adjustment to protect him. We all know that he is the core of our team and his absence will certainly have an impact on our attack,” SIPG defender Wang Shenchao said after the game.
In Saturday’s other game Shijiazhuang Ever Bright beat Qingdao Huanghai in the battle of the CSL’s newly promoted sides.
The only goal came from Chen Pu in the 88th minute, putting in from Matheus centre.
