Guangzhou-based R&F kept their hopes of a first Hong Kong Premier League title alive with a 1-0 win over Lee Man at Mong Kok Stadium on Monday.
A Jordan Lam header from a corner just before half-time was enough to settle the game, which like many in the HKPL since its restart was littered with wayward finishing and players tiring from the hour mark.
Lam nodded in Igor Sartori’s set piece from almost on the goal line, beating the Lee Man defender to the ball.
Chances came and went at both ends with Lee Man coming close to levelling at the death with Chang Hei-yin hitting the side netting.

The result put R&F level with Kitchee at the top of the league on 17 points.
However, the title is not in R&F’s hands – even if they win their final game of the season against Eastern, they also need Kitchee to drop points against Happy Valley as the leaders have the stronger head-to-head record.

Eastern can secure a domestic treble if they win their two remaining fixtures, starting with Happy Valley on Tuesday.
The season, which resumed with six of the original 10 teams after the coronavirus caused the campaign to be put on pause, concludes on Sunday.
If R&F do win the league then they will be allowed to represent Hong Kong in AFC competitions as their Chinese Super League sister club Guangzhou R&F cannot qualify for continental competition after finishing sixth in their group.
