Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min is reportedly self-isolating in an Austrian hotel room after six of his South Korea teammates and one member of staff tested positive for Covid-19 on international duty, according to reports from Seoul’s Yonhap news agency.

The Korea Football Association confirmed on Saturday that Lee Dong-jun, Kwon Chang-hoon, Hwang In-beom, Jo Hyeon-woo and an unidentified staff member tested positive on Thursday. Then on Saturday ahead of playing Mexico two more players, Kim Moon-hwan and Na Sang-ho, tested positive.

“The KFA said all five are asymptomatic, and the rest of the team and all other staff members are being quarantined in their hotel rooms,” Yonhap reported of the first batch.

The news came as South Korea were in Austria to play Mexico and Qatar in friendlies during the ongoing international break. Tests on Saturday showed 18 players were Covid-19 free and the match against Mexico could go ahead as planned.

Son played on Saturday night when Mexico beat South Korea 3-2 in the Stadion Wiener Neustadt.
