Son Heung-min shrugs off South Korea squad Covid-19 cases to send Spurs top of English Premier League table

Spurs star Son Heung-min did not let his Covid-19 isolation on international duty affect his early English Premier League season form with another goal on Saturday to take the North London club top of the table.

Son opened the scoring against Manchester City after just five minutes, latching on to a Tanguy Ndombele through ball and slotting the ball past Ederson in the visitors’ goal.

The 28-year-old’s goal put him on nine for the season and out in front for the Premier League golden boot. It is also his fifth goal in five games against City in all competitions.

This performance from the League’s Player of the Month for October came after a bizarre stint with the South Korean national team in Austria on international duty last week.

Son was among the members of the squad forced to isolate in the team hotel after seven members of the party – six players and one member of staff – tested positive for Covid-19 while in Europe. leaving Paulo Bento’s side with only 19 players.
