Jiangsu Suning fans tell Inter Milan president Steven Zhang to ‘Get out of China’

  • Supporters of disbanded Chinese Super League champions express fury at Inter Milan president Steven Zhang after Serie A title
  • Suning, which also owns Italian giants Inter, pulled funding from China side before season started
While Inter Milan supporters have been celebrating the team’s Italian Serie A title, football fans in China have expressed their anger at the club’s owners and telling them to get out of China.
Suning, which took a majority stake in the Italian giants in 2016, was also the owner of Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, who won the CSL title last November.

Jiangsu fans took to China’s Twitter-like Weibo to express their feelings to Inter chairman Steven Zhang – son of Suning boss Zhang Jindong.

The Inter president told of his joy at Inter securing the title on Sunday after rivals Atalanta failed to win.

“Inter win the Serie A title,” he wrote. “We never gave up even at a time when the pandemic was still ongoing! These are the Nerazzurri colours. They bring us hope and light. We can be proud to say, FC Internazionale Milano, we are champions!”

Inter Milan become first Chinese-owned club to win a ‘big five’ league

Jiangsu fans responded, with many asking Zhang to give them back their club and some demanding that he disband Inter Milan.

Others were more forceful, telling Zhang and Suning to “Get the f*** out of China”.

Some users accused Suning of selling the Jiangsu side down the river to help Inter secure a first scudetto since 2010.

“Suning get the f*** out of Jiangsu, invest money you earn here to Inter Milan and disbanded our own team, you don’t deserve a natural death,” wrote one user, while another wrote that Zhang’s death would be celebrated with fireworks.

Inter have had their own financial troubles in recent seasons and it is reported that Zhang returned to Milan last week to secure investment in the club.

The Italian side were one of the 12 teams to sign up for the since aborted European Super League last month.
