The Professional Footballers’ Association has apologised to Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min after leaving him out of their congratulatory social media posts for making the English Premier League Team of the Year.
South Korea skipper Son, who became the first Asian player to be voted onto the team selected by their fellow professional footballers in England, was the only player missing in the announcement on the PFA’s official Twitter account last Friday.
Social media users questioned why the 28-year-old was left out of the tweet.

On Monday, the PFA re-announced the team with Son included before adding another post where they directly apologised to the South Korean.
“In our initial Premier League #TOTY post, we missed Son Heung-min from our tweet text, we are sorry – this was a genuine mistake!” they wrote.
