Prolific striker Dejan Damjanovic plans to finish his career in Hong Kong as he prepares to start his second season with Kitchee in the Premier League.
Joining the domestic champions in the middle of last season in January, the Montenegro player became an instant hit when he netted 17 times in his maiden season, including four goals in the AFC Champions League that made him the all-time ACL top scorer with 40 goals.
“I really hope this is going to be the last club in my professional career as I have signed a [new] two-year contract with Kitchee,” said Damjanovic, who turned 40 in July. “I am not planning anything beyond the two years. I just want to go step by step, year by year.
“I know the expectations on me and I know what’s my role on the team. I want to enjoy myself here and try to do something special for Kitchee as I believe we are headed in the right direction.”

Damjanovic, who played for a number of clubs in South Korea and China before moving to Hong Kong, still believes he can still compete at the highest level at Kitchee.
“I don’t worry too much about my age. It is a number, a nice number now round with a zero and my body is still in good shape,” he said. “Last season a lot of people wrote us off because of our age, but we proved them wrong.”
“I think we are still the same team, may be a little bit older but we can still do a good job here as we are preparing to have one more good season. We are one of the best teams here.”
