Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min has clocked up an astonishing 223,000 kilometres travelling to games in the past three seasons, spending more than 12 days on planes.

The South Korea skipper spent an estimated 300 hours travelling by air to games for club and country dating back to the 2018-19 season, according to a new report.

Son is currently on national duty for the Fifa World Cup qualifiers where South Korea face Syria in Ansan on Thursday before taking on Iran in Tehran next Tuesday.

The data comes from player body FIFPRO’s latest Player Workload Monitoring report, published on Monday, which was conducted with the KPMG Football Benchmark.

“Long-distance, international trips, even after a recent decline caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, also put pressure on many players’ health and performance because of sudden changes in climate and time zones,” the report said.
