Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola claims no one wants his team to beat Liverpool to Premier League title

- Prickly Guardiola claims after game that ‘everyone in the UK supports Liverpool’

More European failure and a close title race may finally be getting to Pep Guardiola, but the Manchester City boss was irritated after he side’s 5-0 hammering of Newcastle United and he wanted everyone to know it.
After seeing his team go three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, Guardiola gave this title rivalry a more spiky edge with three games remaining.
“Everyone in this country supports Liverpool,” Guardiola said. “The media and everyone.”

It was a groundless claim and an approach the prickly manager carried over from a post-match beIN Sports television interview into the news conference.
Guardiola had faced a routine opening question about whether he was “ecstatic” with the performance after City’s collapse at Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
“Did you have any doubts?” Guardiola asked the reporter from a British newspaper. “You’re a Liverpool fan. Come on.”
That claim was refuted as another reporter exposed his actual allegiances.
