Newly promoted Wuhan Three Towns defeated Wuhan Yangtze 3-1 in a local derby, while Shanghai Port beat Guangzhou 1-0 to pocket their third straight win in the 2022 Chinese Super League on Wednesday.

Three Towns took a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Brazilian forwards Davidson and Marcao, who then bagged his side’s third in the 57th minute.

Asmir Kajevic scored a consolation three minutes from time for Yangtze, but it was not enough to save the team’s unbeaten run this season.

With the win, Three Towns overtook Yangtze on top of the 18-team table with 10 points from four games.

In Shanghai, Feng Jin finally broke the deadlock after a cagey first half, sending an attempted long pass over Guangzhou’s 19-year-old goalkeeper Huo Shenping in the 51st minute for the only goal of the game.

“This is a lucky score, but I believe we have been making progress in every match and going straight forward to our goals,” the Shaghai Port player said. “We will help our international teammates to quickly adapt.”
