Newly promoted Wuhan Three Towns maintained their spot at the top of the Chinese Super League ladder on Sunday, with an impressive 2-1 win over Shanghai Port.

Brazilian striker Marcao broke the deadlock for Three Towns in the ninth minute, finding the net with an impressive header. Teammate Ren Hang doubled their lead soon after thanks to a header from Nicolae Stanciu’s free-kick.

Shanghai Port, last season’s runners-up, pulled a goal back in the 56th minute, but were unable to equalise as Three Towns held on to seal their fourth win in five CSL games this season.

“We are a new team in the Chinese Super League. It is too early to think that we are one of the best. We need to be down-to-earth,” Morilla said.
