Fan group calls for ticket sales to be halted as United States’ claim it would offer US$21 seats turns into ‘monumental betrayal’

Football fans have accused Fifa of a “monumental betrayal” over World Cup tickets and called for sales to be halted, after the latest prices were revealed.
FSE said it was “astonished by the extortionate ticket prices imposed by Fifa”.
‘Minimum US$6,900 to see it all’
Tickets allocated to national associations are typically distributed through official supporters’ groups or loyalty programmes.

FSE said based on prices quietly circulated to the associations, a supporter following their team from first match to the final would pay at least US$6,900.
“We call on Fifa to immediately halt ticket sales, engage in a consultation with all impacted parties, and review ticket prices and category distribution,” FSE said.
It added: “This is a monumental betrayal of the tradition of the World Cup.”
Where are US$21 tickets?
The prices are very different from Fifa’s claims in September of US$60 tickets being available, while the target from US officials when bidding for the tournament seven years ago was to offer hundreds of thousands of US$21 seats.
