Losada named Hong Kong’s interim coach as FA hunts for boss with ‘global vision’
Football association says search continues after Eastern boss takes temporary charge ‘to ensure stability during the transition period’

Roberto Losada was named interim Hong Kong head coach on Friday, as the local football association began its hunt for a boss with “a global vision and professional competence” to replace Ashley Westwood.
But the 49-year-old, who is set to combine the role with his Eastern duties, will clearly have to earn his stripes after being appointed for an indefinite period.
Losada’s first assignment will be the two-leg Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup on December 28 and January 3.

In a release announcing a whopping 51-man preliminary squad for those games, the Football Association of Hong Kong, China (HKFA) said it had installed Losada “to ensure stability during the transition period and maintain the team’s readiness for upcoming fixtures”.
