Adidas, Lenovo among companies in China giving workers a World Cup final holiday
Chinese tech firms NetEase and 37 Interactive Entertainment are allowing employees to enjoy a half-day off on Monday morning

Several corporations in mainland China have announced a full day or a half day off for their employees next Monday so that they can enjoy the Fifa World Cup final to the fullest.
European champions Spain will take on reigning champions Argentina at MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon to bring the 39-day tournament to a close.
A win for Luis de la Fuente’s side will see the Spaniards adding to their previous title from 2010, while a victory for the world’s top team and three-time champions will make Lionel Scaloni the first head coach ever to defend a World Cup.
Regardless of the results in New Jersey, Adidas, who is the apparel sponsor for both teams, appeared to be the biggest winner of the world’s showpiece final, and they are sharing the joy with their employees, announcing on Thursday via a Weibo thread, “Oh no, there’s no work next Monday”, to entitle their staff to a post-final day off on Monday.
“Spain will play Argentina in an ‘Adidas derby’ in the World Cup final, [and] in order to let our colleagues enjoy the match, all employees will be granted a one-day special day off, barring those who have important work meetings scheduled,” read the statement.

The sports apparel brand also offered prize games for their employees to guess the correct scores for the final, and for the third-place play-off match between France and England.
