Formula One breaks new ground in the US this weekend with the first Miami Grand Prix at the Miami International Autodrome.

The winding street circuit is set outside Hard Rock Stadium, the home of NFL’s Miami Dolphins which has played host to six Super Bowls and two World Series – so F1 fans should expect a little more glitz and glamour than usual.

For Alfa Romeo’s Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu, Miami represents an opportunity to shake off a disastrous Imola campaign and continue the early momentum he established.

“I have been close to or in the top 10 in most of the races so far, so we are heading in the right direction. I am in no hurry and I know I need to keep putting in the hard work, then the results will come,” Zhou said.

“The track in Miami is, of course, new for me, even though I have driven it in the simulator. However, it’s a new track for everyone so, in this regard, I start for the first time on the same level as everyone else.”

The Alfa Romeo rookie was forced the start the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix from the pit lane after colliding with Pierre Gasly on the first lap of the sprint race, leaving the rear of his car completely destroyed. Zhou finished the race in 15th position.

“As always, we will need to maximise every session in the run-up to qualifying, making sure we get the most out of our car. I am confident we can have another strong showing this weekend.”
