Formula 1: China’s Zhou Guanyu tipped to join Cadillac after being released by Ferrari
The 26-year-old is the only Chinese driver to race full-time in F1, making 68 career starts during his three years at Sauber

Ferrari have parted ways with Zhou Guanyu ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 campaign, with rumours circulating that the 21-year-old is about to join Cadillac as a reserve and test driver.
The Shanghai native served as a backup for Ferrari last season after a three-year spell at the wheel of the No 24 car for Sauber, where he made 68 career starts from 2022 to 2024.
Zhou, the only Chinese driver to race full-time in F1, and Antonio Giovinazzi split the role of supporting Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in 2025.
The 26-year-old did not enter a race in what was a disappointing season for Ferrari, with Leclerc and Hamilton finishing fifth and sixth respectively in the drivers’ standings.
“Grateful for Zhou Guanyu’s commitment and contribution as Ferrari Reserve Driver this season,” Ferrari posted on social media on Friday. “Wishing him all the best ahead.”
Hours after Ferrari’s announcement, Cadillac teased the potential arrival of Zhou with a post of a cat’s eye with the caption “Reflections of the future”.
