Families take part in open day at Hong Kong Golf Club
More than 200 people, mostly kids, have fun with golfing activities and other games

Dozens of families attended an open day at the Hong Kong Golf Club on Wednesday, allowing their kids to make the most of the games and activities at the course’s Spectator Village.
More than 200 people turned up at Fanling, the majority of them children from local schools, and their parents. Apart from playing games and taking part in golf activities, they were able to watch some action from Wednesday’s UBS Hong Kong Open pro-am tournament.
“This is an open day for these families and it gives them a chance to enjoy the facilities at the Hong Kong Golf Club,” said Tom Phillips, chief executive of the Hong Kong Golf Association.
It’s not only about golf, they are just here to enjoy themselves and if some of them feel they want to take up the game then all the better
“It’s not only about golf, they are just here to enjoy themselves and if some of them feel they want to take up the game then all the better.
“Many of them don’t even come from golfing families.”
The Spectator Village is a marquee area where fans can buy food and beverage and play some of the games on offer.
A Urban Golf Challenge has also been set up at Chater Garden in Central, which features a giant screen on which the public can watch the action from Fanling during the week.
