It’s just business: Zimbabwe’s Brendon de Jonge pulls out of Olympic Games to try to keep his PGA Tour card
He is the 12th player to pull out of the tournament in Rio de Janeiro, but the first to specifically cite scheduling as it relates to keeping his full playing privileges for next year

Brendon de Jonge of Zimbabwe has withdrawn from the Olympic Games because he does not want to miss two tournaments in his bid to keep his PGA Tour card.
De Jonge is the 12th player to pull out of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where golf makes its return after a 112-year absence, but he is the first player to specifically cite the schedule as it relates to keeping his full playing privileges for next year.
De Jonge has missed the cut 15 times in 19 starts this year, plunging to 160th in the FedEx Cup standings.
And because The Greenbrier Classic was cancelled due to flooding, and de Jonge is not in the final major of the year, he has only five events left.
