Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert to defend Macao Open title in October

The 28-year-old has fond memories of the tournament after holding out India’s Anirban Lahiri in a play-off in 2016

Thailand’s rising star Pavit Tangkamolprasert will return to defend his title at the annual Macao Open from October 19-22.

Pavit won his first Asian Tour title last year after defeating India’s Anirban Lahiri on the first play-off hole.

A total of 144 players will battle it out for the title this year and for the 28-year-old Thai, the Macao Open was the biggest victory of his career, propelling him to a career high of 10th place on the 2016 Asian Tour Order of Merit.

The tournament provides Asia’s rising stars with a unique platform to compete against some of the best in the world and Pavit took full advantage of the opportunity and showed the magnitude of his talent.

Over the years, many of the world’s best golfers have graced the fairways of the Macau Golf & Country Club, including major winners Ernie Els, Nick Faldo, Padraig Harrington, Fred Couples, Ian Woosnam and Mark O’Meara, as well as European Ryder Cup stars Lee Westwood and Colin Montgomerie.
