Feng’s final round 3-under saw her tied for third along with Nelly Korda, Sei Young Kim and Nanna Koerstz Madsen.

China’s top golfer had hit 67 in her first round back on the course in 16 months since dropping out of the tour because of the Covid-19 pandemic but was unable to sustain the challenge over the weekend

Lydia Ko’s final round 10-under – one of the lowest rounds in LPGA history – saw her leapfrog the trio into second, finishing on 16-under, but the winner was rookie Tavatanakit by two strokes.

“It feels great to be a major champion,” she said after her win, which will take her into the top 100.
