It has been a busy 24 hours in the world of LIV Golf, from signing a deal with Rolex to losing Patrick Reed, announcing rule changes and finally releasing the 2026 International Series schedule.

And with the LIV season-opener in Riyadh less than a week away, once again there seem to be more questions than answers ahead of the tour’s fifth year in existence.

Here then is a quick breakdown of what’s been happening.

Reed jumps ship

Patrick Reed stunned pretty much everyone on Wednesday when he announced his intention to return to the PGA Tour, leaving LIV and his 4Aces teammates in a pile of the proverbial.

In a social media post, which came just days after he won the Dubai Desert Classic, the American labelled himself a “traditionalist at heart” who was “born to play on the PGA Tour”.

He cannot actually return until September, which means the DP World Tour will be his immediate home, and Hong Kong will not be seeing its 2024 Open winner again any time soon.

Apparently, the move will also give Reed the chance to “get back out there and revisit some of the best places on earth”, although given his extensive global travel over the past several years, he should probably have said “revisit some of the best places in America”.
