Hong Kong golfers had a tournament to forget at the Philippine Golf Championship, an Asian Tour event that was won by South Korean Cho Woo-young on Sunday.
The highest finisher from the city was Jason Hak Shun-yat at 68, with Taichi Kho and Matthew Cheung failing to even make the cut.
The victory at Wack Wack Golf & Country Club in Manila was the first for Cho on the Asian Tour.
The Korean held off the challenge of Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert to win the tournament by four shots.
Overnight leader Karandeep Kochhar of India dropped down to fourth, with Travis Smyth of Australia finishing third.
Cho scored a final round five-under-par 67, for a four-round total of 11-under par at the first tournament of the Asian Tour season.

The 24-year-old dropped only one shot all day, on the opening hole, but he soon regained his composure to secure birdies on two and three.
He made par saves on 11 and 12 and he was ahead by two shots heading into the final two holes.
“It feels very amazing,” Cho said. “This is my first event in 2026. I started off the season very well and I really enjoyed it.
“The most important thing in my game today were the saves on 11 and 12. On hole 11 I just wanted to make bogey, just an easy bogey, but I think it was lucky to make par. On hole number 12 I think it was very important to make par as well. That’s why I won this tournament.”
Cho took home US$90,000 plus another US$10,000 for carding the lowest round of the day.
His previous best finish on the Asian Tour was second at the Bharath Classic in India last year. He is also a two-time winner on the Korean PGA Tour, once in 2023 as an amateur and then in 2024 in his first full professional season.
The next stop on the Tour is the 105th New Zealand Open at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown on February 26.
