Fay Ho loses battle in Olympic panel vote
Former canoeing and rowing star vows to contest future elections for a post on the Sports Federation and Olympic Commttee of Hong Kong

Fay Ho Kim-fai has vowed to come back after losing an election for a vice-president's post on the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong.
The retired athlete, who represented Hong Kong in canoeing at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1986 and in rowing at the Barcelona Olympics eight years later, gained only 20 votes out of a total 58 at the organisation's annual meeting last night.
"There is win or lose in sport and tonight I lost," said the 51 year old, who is now the deputy secretary-general of the Hong Kong School Sports Federation.
"I am not disappointed at all. Maybe it is not the right time but I have taken the first step which will certainly open the road for other people who want to contribute to Hong Kong sport in future.
"I will stand for the next election when the current two-year term for officer-bearers is over."
There were nine candidates for the eight vice-president posts and Ho's defeat came as little surprise as she was not considered an ally of those who have been in power for years. The eight vice-presidents are incumbents Karl Kwok Chi-leung, Victor Hui Chun-fui, Vivien Lau Chiang-chu, Tony Yue Kwok-leung and Brian Stevenson, and three new faces, Tong Wai-lun, Herman Hu Shao-ming and Pui Kwan-kay.
