High-flying Hu Yun won through to the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Open with another hard-earned victory in Jakarta on Thursday.

The Hong Kong badminton No 1 - who regained his top 10 position in the world rankings after reaching the final of the Japan Open last week - overcame Indonesia's Simon Santoso in the men’s singles in an hour-long contest, winning 21-18, 13-21, 22-20. Hu was also taken to three sets in his first-round win over Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam.
In the bottom half of the draw, mainlander Chen Long, the second seed, reached the last eight after coming from behind to beat Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand 23-25, 21-16, 22-20.
