Rebecca Chiu Wing-yin, Hong Kong's golden girl of yesteryear, is back in the country that gave her the sweetest memory of her sporting career, and the memories are flooding back.

The tension on court, the coach trying to calm the frayed nerves of the athlete, excited crowds - it was all so familiar to Chiu as she arrived at the Yeorumul squash courts.

I remember how I felt every time I walked on to court. I was always a bundle of nerves

Chiu won Hong Kong's first and only squash gold medal at the Busan Asian Games in 2002, defeating great rival Nicol David of Malaysia in a tense final.

She won silver in 2006 and 2010, both times losing out to David.

"I always have a soft spot for South Korea as it was here that I won my memorable gold medal. I can't recollect much about the match itself but I remember the glow inside me when I won that final point," she said.

"I was so happy and couldn't believe I had done it. When I walked out of the court, the jubilation and cheering from the Hong Kong team made me cry and there were tears of joy in their eyes too as they congratulated me."
