Sun Pegasus' hopes of clinching this season's BOCG Premier League title took another hammer blow - this time against rivals Kitchee at Mong Kok Stadium on Saturday. The big-spending club had looked in sensational form at the start of the season, winning five in a row, but things have gradually gone downhill as they suffered their latest defeat. Once luck is not on their side [Kitchee], they will lose points and we can resume control in the table Ricardo Rambo Their disappointing run began early last month with a 3-0 defeat by Eastern. It was followed by a goalless draw with minnows Wofoo Tai Po. They also suffered an early exit in the Senior Shield in a 3-1 defeat by newcomers Wong Tai Sin. Pegasus still lead the table on 16 points, but defending champions Kitchee, the only unbeaten side in the League, are closing in just three points behind and with three games in hand. Pegasus coach Ricardo Rambo refused to throw in the towel, saying there is still a long way to go before the season ends. "They [Kitchee] had a little luck beating us today, scoring the goal because of our defensive lapse in concentration. Once luck is not on their side [Kitchee], they will lose points and we can resume control in the table," said the coach. "But we must keep working hard and make the players believe in themselves. "Our performance today has indeed improved from our last few games, but we were just not aggressive enough up front, otherwise we would have scored." The only goal of the match came early in the first half through marksman Juan Belencoso, who intercepted a weak back pass by Pegasus captain Tong Kin-man before beating Pegasus goalkeeper Jerrad Tyson. Kitchee captain Lo Kwan-yee was delighted his side's defence had improved after the club conceded two goals to unfancied Tai Po in their last match in the Senior Shield. "The defence is more focused and we are happy to keep a clean sheet against the firing power of Pegasus," said the right back. In another match, South China also failed to close the gap against the top two sides when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Wong Tai Sin at Hammer Hill Sports Ground. Playing in windy conditions, South China were lucky to share the points after second half substitute Evan Kostopoulos levelled the score after Li Jian had put the home team ahead in the first half after receiving Sandro's pass.
