Chan Ka-chun makes it two in a row as he is crowned Hong Kong Athlete of the Year
Hurdler Chan Ka-chun has set his sights on obtaining an Olympic qualifying berth after being crowned the men’s Athlete of the Year (2014) for the second year in a row at the Hong Kong Amateur Athletics Association annual presentation on Tuesday night.

The 26 year-old student, who turned full-time before the Incheon Asian Games last year, broke a decade-old 400-metre hurdles Hong Kong record last year with a time of 51.33 seconds.
He also helped the 4x400 metre relay set a Hong Kong record (3:11:28 at the Incheon Games.
“I hope to improve my 400 metre hurdles [time] by at least one second to strive for a Rio Games berth,” said Chan, who will complete his Hong Kong Institute of Education degree in June.
Ching Siu-nga, who broke the Hong Kong women 3,000 metre walk, 5,000 metre walk and 20 km walk records last year, won the women’s Athlete of the Year.
