Squash will try to include more events in the next Asian Games to help further develop the sport in the region and boost hopes of Olympic inclusion.

There were four events when squash was contested at the Incheon Games last year - men's and women's team and individual competitions.

Tony Choi Yuk-kwan, head squash coach at the Sports Institute in Sha Tin, said the Asian governing body had proposed adding men's, women's and mixed doubles to the Jakarta Games in 2018.

"The governing body is still working out the details as the venue requirements, number of participants and event organisation will be different from the last games but it is their intention to stage more events in Jakarta," said Choi.

We know squash has a chance of being in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and it would be important if we can have more top-level competition in different events beforehand

"It is not only about more medals up for grabs but also a better promotion of the sport throughout the region.
