Hong Kong's Adderly Fong makes breakthrough in GT Asia Series with win in Japan

Hong Kong’s Adderly Fong Cheun-yue combined with Japanese ace Keita Sawa to win his first race in the 2015 GT Asia Series in Okayama, Japan, on Sunday.

Hong Kong’s Adderly Fong Cheun-yue combined with Japanese ace Keita Sawa to win his first race in the 2015 GT Asia Series in Okayama, Japan, on Sunday.

Fong was thrilled that he finally climbed onto the winning podium after winning round four of the prestigious series. “Finally where we should be! P1 baby,” wrote Fong in his Facebook account after he celebrated the win with Bentley Team Absolute.

“We’re really happy to have won. Bentley are also very happy we have won and sent a congratulory message to us.

"We should have had a better result in the last leg in South Korea, but we had all sorts of mechanical and engineering problems,” said Fong.

“Everything came together this time. We started from pole and won from pole. Hopefully this will spur us on to get more good results in our next races.

"This is a first step for us. Our goal is to win the [GT3] overall championship,” he added.

In April, the 25-year-old became a fully fledged F1 driver at the Chinese GP as a development driver with Lotus.
